Sophie at BUCS Judo 2018

Sophie again represented Newcastle University at the annual BUCS judo championships, but despite her best efforts she narrowly missed out on a second successive medal.

In the her pool of four, she won two fights by ippon, only losing by a wazari to a 2nd Dan, who went on to win silver. In the knockout stages, she lost to the eventual gold medallist, Sophie then fought for bronze, and although she was a wazari up, she got a third shido, with 17 seconds left, meaning she was disqualified.
